The Not Weed Wildflower Seeds is a mix of four wildflowers once considered a staple of British Wildflower meadows. They have often been classed as weeds by gardeners and farmers and, as a result, Britain has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows in the last century. However, they are stunning and are excellent for pollinators so we've included them in our complete planting kits for summer colour.

They are very easy to grow. Simply scatter over bare soil on the ground, a pot or your ReRoot planter from February to May or September to December then press in lightly, but do not cover. First shoots should start appearing any time from 1 - 4 weeks after sowing for a beautiful, vibrant display throughout summer. The mix contains enough seed for up to one 1 square meter of soil.

Our mix contains:

Corn Marigold - a vibrant yellow, daisy-like flower. It is a good plant for bees, butterflies and moths, and is the food plant of the Chamomile Shark Moth. Heigh 30 - 60cm.

Common Poppy - an elegant, red, open flower head on top of an thin green stem. Although not strictly native to UK, it is thought that poppies first came to the UK 5,000 - 7,000 years ago with the spread of agriculture. Height: 70 - 90cm.

Cornflower - a striking blue flowerhead, made up of many tiny flowers. The flowers are edible, providing a slightly sweet taste, and striking blue colour to meals such as salads. Height: 75 - 100cm.

Oxeye Daisy - the heads have many tiny yellow flowers grouped in the centre with white petals around them. They are similar to, but much bigger than, the humble daisy. At night they can look like they are sleeping (or dead) as they droop their petals to protect them and conserve energy.
